BAVISTIN (Carbendazim 50% WP): Curative Fungicide for Reliable Crop Protection
Fungal diseases are one of the most common reasons behind yield reduction in Indian agriculture, especially during humid weather and cloudy conditions. Diseases like leaf spot, powdery mildew, anthracnose, fruit rot (early stage), blight support and wilt suppression can attack crops across vegetables, fruits, and field crops. BAVISTIN® (Carbendazim 50% WP) is a widely used systemic fungicide from the benzimidazole group, known for its curative + preventive action. Its active ingredient, Carbendazim, has the chemical name Methyl benzimidazol-2-yl carbamate with molecular formula C₉H₉N₃O₂.

How BAVISTIN works
Unlike contact fungicides that stay only on the leaf surface, BAVISTIN moves inside the plant through xylem transport. It controls fungi by stopping their growth process—Carbendazim binds to ฮฒ-tubulin and inhibits microtubule formation, which blocks cell division (mitosis). This is why BAVISTIN is especially valuable when applied at the first appearance of symptoms, offering curative control in early infections.

Recommended usage
BAVISTIN is commonly applied as:
Foliar spray: 1 g/L water
Seed treatment: 2 g/kg seed (useful for smuts and seed-borne fungi)
Soil drenching / root zone: 1 g/L water
Seedling root dip: 1 g/L for 20–30 minutes before transplanting

Spray intervals generally range from 7–12 days depending on disease pressure and weather.
Important precautions
Carbendazim is a single-site fungicide and carries a high resistance risk, so avoid continuous repeated sprays. Rotate with contact fungicides like mancozeb or copper-based products as per crop need. Always follow safe handling and maintain crop-specific waiting periods.
